SVSS is an AMA Chartered Club (2752) whose purpose is to promote the safe and skillful flying of radio controlled gliders and electric powered planes and to encourage fellowship, friendship and the exchange of information among R/C enthusiasts.  Our club was founded in 1989 and has more than 100 members of all ages, abilities and from all walks of life with a common interest, building and flying radio controlled gliders and electric powered planes. 

SVSS offers many methods and opportunities to learn and hone your flying skills and has a total of eight, 750 foot winch lanes, 4 to the North and 4 to the South, that are used depending on wind direction. Due to Yolo County restrictions, modeling is restricted to sailplanes and electrics.  NO gas power planes or rotary aircraft are permitted.

A monthly Thermal Duration glider contest is held at the club field at 10:00 AM on the 2nd Saturday of the month from March through November.  On the 4th Saturday of those same months, a contest is held for F5J Electric Sailplanes.  Training for new pilots is available from our flight instructors and beginners and spectators are always welcome. 

The SVSS flying field is located at the Yolo County Grasslands Regional Park, which is 3.8 miles south of I-80 on Mace Blvd in Davis.  The County Park is open every day from sunup to sundown.  Most of our flying activity is on Fridays and Saturdays, weather permitting. Wind and rain are obvious deterrents to an enjoyable time.

The SVSS field is located in the Yolo Country Grasslands Park, which is 3.84 South of Interstate 80 on Mace Blvd in Davis CA.
